Cell- the lowest level of biological organization to have the characteristics of life

Energy - the capacity to do work

Metabolism - the sum of all chemical reactions that occur in a cell

Behavior - the responses of an organism to the external environment

Reproduce - make more of themselves

Development - the changes that take place between conception & death

Adaptations - modifications that make an oragnaism suited to its way of life

Evolution - process by which characteristics change through time

Population - all organisms of one type

Community - populations of various animals n plants in the forest

Ecosystem - populations of organisms within a community interact among

themselves and environment

Biosphere - all living things on earth

Species - members are anotomically similar and can only reproduce with each other

Extinction - death of a species

Taxonomy - part of biology decicated to naming

Theories - concepts based on the conclusions of observations and experiments

Scientific method - approach to gathering information

Data - observations and experimental results perminent to the matter at hand

Hypothesis - basis for more observations and/or experiment

Control - goes through all the steps of the experiment, except the one being tested
